You know as a parent when you have those ‘holy-crap-we’re-going-into-the-next-phase’ moments? I had one of those this morning as I sat and watched our boys put the Christmas tree up and decorate it almost all on their own for the first time. They were so excited (though they don’t look it in this pic 😆)! 🌲

They are growing up so fast! Love my boys! 💙

After getting the tree up, a little swim, some drawing on my white office door with permanent marker (😤), and lunch, it’s now chill out time listening to the hum of the generator until the power comes back on 🥵.

So grateful for the abundance I am surrounded by. 🙏🏼

Overwhelmed. 😔 It’s easy to feel overwhelmed at this time of year if you allow it, isn’t it.

Did you know that we give overwhelm momentum with the stories we tell ourselves on repeat, like:
‘I’m so busy’
‘I’ve got so much to do’
‘There’s so much to think about’
‘I can’t keep up’

What about if you simply take your attention off it to focus on what you do want? Even if for a moment, choose a new story, like:
‘I am calm’
‘Everything is ok’
‘Everything is always working out for me’
‘I have all the time I need for what’s important to me’

Choosing a more helpful story throughout your day gives you momentum away from overwhelm. The more you repeat the new stories to yourself, the better!

It may not change what you have on your to-do list, but it changes how you feel and cope. I use this strategy all the time!

The pep talk you give yourself when the window to get the kids outside before it hits 40 degrees is disappearing before your eyes... 💪🧴👟👒

And you KNOW that, even if it breaks you, the benefit of getting them out that door far outweighs the effort... because it's a loooong day in the air con with energiser bunny kids if you don't. 🙃🔋
